eBooks: Picking the Right Natural Hair Products

(Chapter 4 excerpt) The porosity of your hair will determine the protein/moisture balance in the products you buy. In other words your hair’s porosity will tell you if you need to buy products with more moisture or more protein until you can get it balanced.  Having high porosity is like having shingles missing from your roof and a leaking basement.  Moisture can move very easily in and out of the hair strands.  Sealing in moisture with the right products is critical. This attribute also requires regular protein to rebuild the hair’s structure.   With low porosity, it is also hard to moisturize hair but for a different reason.  If you have low porosity that means that your hair is like Fort Knox.
